THERAPIST, SERVING CALIFORNIA RESIDENTS

Asmita Paudel, Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC)

I am an associate clinical mental health counselor and graduated with a master's in clinical mental health counseling from Wayne State University in Michigan. Also, I am an undergraduate in psychology. My passion is helping clients manage their anxiety, substance use, cope with depression, and improve marriage, dating, and relationships. This can be a messy process, and I am not afraid to sit and be present in the mess. The goal of therapy is to help you heal from your experiences. Insight is just the first step. Following insight, we can work together to find ways to manage and moderate the effects of past or current stressors.

I grew up in an Asian culture where mental health was veiled in silence and stigma, I witnessed firsthand the profound impact of societal taboos on individual well-being. Born and raised in this environment, I became acutely aware of the hidden struggles that often lurked beneath the surface, concealed by a veneer of cultural norms and expectations.

As a multicultural clinical mental health therapist, I bring diverse perspectives and a deep understanding of cultural nuances to my practice, fostering healing and growth for clients from all backgrounds. I strive to create a safe and nurturing space where clients feel seen, heard, and valued for who they are. Whether navigating the complexities of intergenerational trauma, acculturation stress, or existential worry, I meet each individual with a blend of warmth, empathy, and cultural competence.

I tailor therapy to meet the needs of each individual client, however, I have experience in Person-Centered Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, attachment-based therapy, CBT, DBT, Mindfulness, and Motivational Interviewing. I have experience in treating substance abuse, relationship issues, marital conflict, grief, anxiety, and depression.

My bilingual proficiency allows me to bridge linguistic barriers, offering counseling services in both English, Nepali and Hindi ensuring that language does not serve as a barrier to healing. Through the fluid exchange of words and emotions, I facilitate deeper connections and foster a sense of belonging for clients who may feel estranged in a foreign land. My clients not only survive life, the live life. Empowering you will always be a central goal in our sessions. I look forward to hearing from you.
