My name is Demetria’l Graham, but you can call me Dee. I would like to support you embark on your journey of self-discovery and embrace the challenge of healing, which I refer to as “Doing YOUR Work.” Many of us spend endless amounts of time investing in others but we do not invest that energy into ourselves. If nothing else, know that my approach to healing empowers people to speak their truth, and to express who you are freely and without judgement.
So how do we accomplish that? Well, I use a multi-faceted approach based on cognitive behavioral therapy, solution focused brief, and narrative approach. As I believe that effective therapy is a collaborative opportunity where the client steers the ship, I am most influenced by the person/client-centered theoretical orientation. My goal is to provide clients with services that are humanistic, holistic and unique to their needs and goals while doing so in an open environment.
After all, everyone is different, so therapy should be appropriately designed to be a diverse yet personal and reflective process to accomplish new goals, process thoughts and feelings, and to practice new skills.
After seeing many younger, as well as older members of my community suffering, I wanted to be able to help. As a teenager immersed in my own self-discovery, I gained a sobering insight about the true issues of my community, and the resources that were needed. From there, I’ve dedicated myself toward becoming the advocate my community lacked. My goal as mental health therapist is to provide support, therapy, coaching, and support to all who need it, no matter their story to this point.
I firmly believe anyone can benefit from counseling or coaching services if they’re open and ready for the experience, and it is my life’s work to be a helping hand of healing.
