Locations:
Hybrid: Primarily providing services at our office located at 717 K Street, Suite 213, Sacramento, CA 95814, with the option to telecommute. Employees must reside in Northern California and be based in Sacramento County or one of the surrounding counties when providing telehealth services.

Languages:
The ability to provide services in another language is a plus, with preference for Spanish and Haitian Creole.

Compensation:
Regular: $52.00–$56.00 per hour
Bilingual: $52.00–$58.80 per hour – eligibility requires 50% of the caseload to be in a foreign language.

Employment Type:

  • Part-Time: 20-29 hours per week, with 15-24 billable hours per week of direct client services.
  • Full-Time: 30-40 hours per week, with 30 billable hours per week of direct client services.
    Employees may transition from part-time to full-time based on service demand and personal preference, after 90 consecutive days of employment.

Probation:
The position includes a 90-day probationary period. All employees will start part-time during this initial period. The first year is a probationary period, during which the employer-employee relationship will be reviewed quarterly.

Job Summary:
The Licensed Clinical Therapist will provide counseling and mental health services in a marital and family context. The therapist will conduct individual therapy, couples therapy, family therapy, and/or group therapy. Services will include evaluating, diagnosing, and treating mental health disorders, while also addressing psychological and relational issues. The therapist will maintain detailed records of service delivery to ensure compliance with third-party payers. Services may be provided in person or via telehealth. Additional responsibilities may include offering consulting support services, case management, facilitating workshops, providing community training, or speaking at events. Clients may be insurance-based or private pay. This position is an at-will, a W-2 employee-employer relationship.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
• The ability to supervise post-graduate, board-registered interns or graduate students in the near future is a plus.

Duties/Responsibilities:
• Provide individual therapy, couples therapy, familytwo counseling (including premarital counseling), and group therapy for adults, older adults, and children (ages 0–17).
• Conduct comprehensive assessments by gathering and analyzing client information through various methods, including observation, interviews, self-report inventories, group discussions, and/or formal assessments.
• Diagnose and apply appropriate treatments for psychological disorders.
• Collaborate with clients and their family members to develop treatment plans that address issues effectively and help clients replace unhealthy behaviors with healthier alternatives.
• Work with clients to develop post-treatment plans.
• Coordinate and/or refer clients to specialists for further treatment as needed.
• Provide case management and support services on an as-needed basis.
• Offer online counseling (via phone or video conference) as requested by clients.
• Maintain accurate records of case progress, evaluations, and treatment recommendations.
• Ensure compliance with ethical codes and standards.
• Contribute to blog posts and facilitate workshops or training sessions as needed.

Required Skills/Abilities:
• A minimum of 2 years of post-graduate experience is required.
• Ability to work with individuals and families from diverse cultural backgrounds, including those from religious or ethnic minorities and underserved populations.
• Ability to provide a safe space for discussions on spirituality, faith, or religion, including for clients who identify as agnostic or atheist.
• Experience working with clients dealing with racial discrimination, racial bias, or prejudice.
• Ability to provide marital counseling and family therapy in addition to individual therapy.
• Comfort and ability to work with both men and women.
• Ability to work with both victims and perpetrators of abuse.
• Knowledge and/or experience working with families affected by domestic violence.
• Knowledge and/or experience working with couples dealing with infidelity, as well as maternal and paternal mental health (training required within 6 months of hire).
• Ability to provide group therapy and facilitate training or workshops.
• Willingness to serve Medicaid (Medi-Cal) clients, in addition to those with commercial insurance.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Compassionate, empathetic, and capable of building trust with clients.
• Ability to remain calm, reassuring, and de-escalate tense situations.
• In-depth understanding of human behavior, as well as behavioral and affective disorders, and their diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation.
• Strong organizational skills to manage complex cases, meet deadlines, and handle paperwork and scheduling.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to integrate evidence-based treatment models and innovative approaches when needed.
• Creative thinking to develop treatment plans tailored to clients from diverse backgrounds.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software and familiarity with using EHR.
• Thorough understanding of ethical codes and standards related to counseling.
• Willingness to adhere to Medicaid’s (Medi-Cal) documentation guidelines and the documentation standards of Guillaume Marriage and Family Counseling for all clients, including cash-pay clients.

Education and Experience:
• A Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Clinical Social Work, with a minimum of two years of post-graduate experience.
• A current California state license in Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Clinical Social Work.
• Must maintain malpractice insurance of $1,000,000.00/$3,000,000.00.
• Must be credentialed with insurance companies – Guillaume Marriage and Family Counseling will credential all licensed staff.

Physical Requirements:
• Prolonged periods of sitting, listening, observing, or working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
