Therapist, Serving Sacramento, CA

Sanjida Nahar, Mental Health Therapist

As an empathetic clinician, steadfast communicator, and earnest advocate for mental health, I am deeply committed to the task of fostering mental wellness in our communities. My life journey, rooted in Southern California, has been as diverse as it has been enlightening, weaving together a rich tapestry of experiences that have nurtured a deep understanding of the human condition within me.

One of the most transformative experiences of my life was growing up as a child of immigrants. It afforded me a unique perspective on the challenges of assimilation, cultural disconnection, and the silent suffering that often underscores the immigrant experience. This personal revelation imprinted a profound respect for human resilience and a deep empathy for those who feel marginalized or misunderstood. It ignited within me a fierce determination to bridge these divides, to champion change and empower individuals.

My professional journey commenced in the realm of strategic communications, where I worked as a consultant for a diverse portfolio of organizations, including Fortune 500 companies, non-profits, and state agencies. While this might seem a far cry from clinical psychology, this experience was instrumental in shaping the therapist I am today. It honed my skills in active listening, deep understanding, and effective communication – skills that form the backbone of a successful clinician.

The transition into clinical psychology wasn't an abrupt shift, rather a natural progression. I found myself naturally gravitating towards the role of the "therapist" within my circles, a role that resonated with my deep-seated passion for helping others. I am a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist in California. I got my Masters in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University, where I gained valuable theoretical knowledge and practical experience in the field. Prior to that, I received my Undergraduate degree in Psychology and Math from the University of California Davis, which provided me with a solid foundation in understanding human behavior and analytical thinking. With my academic background and professional training, I am equipped to provide effective and compassionate therapy to individuals, couples, and families seeking support and guidance.

In my clinical practice, I place paramount importance on forging strong therapeutic alliances with my patients. I am a firm believer in the transformative potential of a shared therapeutic journey. For me, therapy is not a one-sided endeavor. My patients are the directors of their narratives, and I am here to provide guidance, support, and the tools necessary for them to navigate their path. Their goals become my goals, their journey, our shared expedition towards self-discovery, growth, and healing.

I firmly believe that mental health is not a "one size fits all" situation. Every individual, every story, and every journey is unique, requiring a different map. Hence, I strive to tailor my approach to align with the unique needs and circumstances of my patients, fostering a therapeutic relationship marked by cultural competence, inclusivity, and respect.

As a multilingual therapist fluent in English, Bangla, Hindi, and Urdu, I am uniquely positioned to transcend linguistic and cultural barriers, making therapy more accessible and comfortable for a diverse range of individuals. My mission is to normalize therapy within my community and beyond, providing psychoeducation for those who are apprehensive or hesitant to seek help. I passionately believe in the transformative power of therapy, and I want everyone to feel empowered to seek the help they need, knowing that their mental health is significant.

Drawn from the diverse cultural tapestry of California, I derive strength from its vibrant communities and its indomitable spirit. Presently residing in Rancho Cordova, I persist in serving my community, actively challenging societal norms and tirelessly working towards dismantling barriers in mental health. My commitment is to make mental health a conversation, not a taboo, and to make therapy a norm, not an exception. I am devoted to making a difference, one conversation, one session, one patient at a time.
