Tamara Sipp, CADC-R (#T-24-4170), Professional Counselor Associate (#R9023)

My name is Tamara Sipp. In working with me, you are in the driver’s seat and can choose what may mesh well with you. I’ll share a little about me, so you attain a greater understanding of the “who, what and how” that has shaped my therapeutic approach of enabling growth positively forever on the continuum of change.  Equipped with lengthy experience in mental health, I am a grandmother, mom, radio-host, certified in Seeking Safety an evidence-based model for Trauma and Addiction, Naloxone and Overdose Awareness, Cultural Competence, ASAM (I) & ASAM (II) etc.

My proposal is healthy holistic alternatives for achievement, welcoming clients into a nonjudgmental atmosphere, where we can with person-centered cohesiveness create achievable goals.  It is understandable and understood that therapy is related to and relayed in many different forms. Our path and time together are constructively through an empathetic stance, consider the juxtaposition of life's lessons sometimes as lessons learned.

I want to help and grow alongside you while safely honoring and upholding my duties as a clinician. My specialties are stress, anxiety and substance abuse. Having heard the cliché of, "it takes a village " the utilization of an eclectic approach of evidence-based theoretical advancements and knowledge, will assist us (you and I), greatly in desired results. I believe clients enter treatment in hopes towards healing.

My Professional and Academic Background

I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal justice, from American Inter-Continental University. I then pursued a master’s degree in counseling psychology with emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy at Argosy University in California; although I completed 98% of the program, with an overall GPA of 3.58, I didn’t graduate, and the school eventually closed their doors to all students. I then pursued a Master of Science in Psychology at California Southern University and graduated in 2021, with an overall GPA of 3.33.  I have been an addiction counselor for many years and a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor -Registration (CADC-R, #T24-4170) with MHACBO. I am now a board registered Professional Counselor Associate (# R9023) with the Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselor and Therapist, pursuing a licensed as a Licensed Professional Counselor.

Since obtaining my master’s degree I have provided individual therapy, family therapy and couples therapy, substance abuse treatment, and facilitation of groups. I provided psychoeducation group classes on anger management and parenting. I utilized the anger management course from Geroge Anderson, who was a technical advisor for the movie Anger Management w/Jack Nicholson and Adam Sandler. I have been part of state and grant funded parent programs teaching parenting classes in the inner city and resource community centers, where the population consisted of a multi-cultural, court-ordered, and self-development clientele.  I have also run morning and evening sessions of reflection groups in a women’s treatment center and a detox treatment center.  Since 2009 I have had gainful experiences in acute care and school-based settings providing case management, utilization management, sub-acute care/detox, managed health care, residential, IOP, PHP, step-down unit(s) and so forth. I have also hosted a radio show where content ranged from women’s empowerment, faith, and community.

My personal background

I am a Christian, grandmother, and mom.  A product of an immigrant parent, who had many predicaments involving acculturation and traumatic experiences. It has shaped and strengthened my view of relationships and an awareness of cultural diversity. I am a survivor of domestic violence. Raising my children as a single parent, has provided a greater understanding of the plight of the African American experience.
