Therapy can be a scary journey to embark on, or possibly a taboo, depending on your culture. As a Hispanic woman, who once was a single mom, and now having a blended family, I have experienced many challenges, stressors, and overwhelming feelings that has made it difficult to parent, now toddler. I have felt lost and thought no one understood me, and though some days are still harder than others, I have been triumphant and regained a sense of control in my life. When working with my clients, I make sure to respect their cultural and spiritual beliefs. I provide the guidance and tools needed to help them better understand their behaviors to improve their emotions, their life, and feel better about themselves.
People come to me when life circumstances have become too overwhelming and no longer know how to regain control of their life. I have worked with diverse populations: race, age, gender, multiracial, single mothers, perinatal and postpartum, to name a few. When working with my clients, I focus on their goals, wants, and needs, making sure they feel as though they are the center of the treatment. I strongly believe my clients control the treatment and I am simply here to support and guide them through the difficulties they are facing.
Some of the therapeutic modalities I use consist of parent-child interaction therapy (PCIT), family systems, strengths-based therapy, psychodynamic therapy, trauma focused, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and more. Depending on the problem area of focus, I will adjust the therapeutic modality to meet my client’s needs. If you choose to work with me, I will assure our therapeutic relationship will feel like a partnership rather than an imbalance of power.
