Kenyai (Kayo) O'Neal
Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT #152748)
Hello, my name is Kenyai O'Neal, but please feel free to call me Kayo. I am a board-registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) at Guillaume Marriage and Family Counseling. I provide services under the clinical supervision of Nahomie Guillaume, LMFT (#T1492), and Kristi Abbott, LCSW (#65194).
I believe therapy should be a space where you can show up fully as yourself — without needing to shrink, perform, or explain away your experiences. My approach is rooted in the understanding that our bodies often carry the impact of our stories, relationships, identities, and environments. Whether you are navigating anxiety, identity exploration, relationship challenges, burnout, trauma, life transitions, or the experience of feeling misunderstood or disconnected, therapy can become a place to reconnect with yourself in a grounded and meaningful way.
I hold a background in Theater Arts and Counseling Psychology, and I bring both creativity and clinical care into the therapeutic process. My work integrates Relational Gestalt Therapy, Somatic approaches, Liberation Psychology, and Narrative Therapy. Together, we may explore patterns through conversation, nervous system awareness, mindfulness, breathwork, creative expression, and body-based practices that support emotional regulation, self-awareness, and healing.
I strive to create an affirming and collaborative therapeutic space for individuals who may not always feel fully seen within traditional systems of care. I especially enjoy working with:
Creatives, performers, and artists navigating the emotional demands of creative work
LGBTQIA+ and gender-expansive individuals seeking affirming and identity-centered support
Neurodivergent individuals who benefit from sensory-aware and non-pathologizing care
BIPOC individuals processing cultural identity, systemic stress, intergenerational experiences, and personal healing
I work with adolescents, teenagers, adults, couples, and individuals across different stages of life, adapting therapy to each person's unique experiences, goals, and needs. Whether supporting identity development, improving communication within relationships, processing difficult life experiences, or building healthier emotional patterns, my focus remains the same: creating a therapeutic relationship rooted in trust, authenticity, compassion, and respect.
Healing is not about becoming someone else — it is about creating space to better understand yourself, care for yourself, and move through life with greater connection, clarity, and intention. I look forward to supporting you in that process.
